Journeys: Quilt Exhibition at the Washington State History Museum

A new exhibition, JOURNEYS: Quilts from the Contemporary QuiltArt Affiliation and The Pacific Northwest African American Quilters, will be on see now by way of June 23, 2024, at the Washington Condition History Museum. The exhibition revolves all around the theme of journeys of transformation—personal, cultural, and historical—captured in this collection of 30 contemporary quilts by artists from two local groups. These thorough works of fiber art stitch jointly narratives and moments from the personal to the conceptual.

&#8220From people artwork to 3-dimensional sculptures, the breadth of variations showcased in JOURNEYS challenge our notions of what can be established by means of modern day quilting,&#8221 stated Washington Condition Record Museum director Jennifer Kilmer. &#8220Just about every artist&#8217s interpretation of the theme is distinctive, but they all explain to a story by means of fiber artwork.&#8221

Because 1986, The Modern day QuiltArt Association has promoted expression by evolving fiber art variations, supplies, and tactics. Pieces from the CQA mix standard and nontraditional methods, which include painted, digitally printed, hand-dyed components, and device and hand-stitched surfaces in various styles and sizes.

The Pacific Northwest African American Quilters is an organization that celebrates the cultural roots of quilting. The PNWAAQ has been sharing African American record with its associates and their communities via the custom of quilting for in excess of 25 decades.
