The Firs Celebrates 40 Successful Years

The longevity of The Firs, an independent senior living community, can be attributed to its integration of wellness, purpose, and community engagement. Detailed attention on doing meaningful activities brings purpose and joy. That includes for the people who live at The Firs as well as all the lives they touch.

To support the community and connect residents, The Firs offers continuing Yio Shigoto translated as Good Work projects. They are staff-led with residents’ input and energy. “We thrive on residents bringing us ideas,” Jamison notes. Collections have been taken for The Little Red School House, which provides supplies for students. People gathered to clean and sanitize classroom books for the local school district. “We take a bus to pack food bags for All Kids Win,” she adds. Other community agencies that have received support are Community Youth Services, Union Gospel Mission, Rebuilding Together Thurston County, and the food bank.

“The activity calendar is abundant with activities, programs, and speakers on topics from art to health. “We have an Adventure Club. We go on outings to experience nature,” says Jamison. Residents at The Firs enjoy its outstanding library and the fitness center. The Fireside Bistro is a cozy place to curl up and read. You can be as active as you choose.

We want people to make their house a home,” says Marilyn Jamison, Sales Director. It can begin with decorating to your style. Located along the Chehalis Western Trail, adjacent to a lake, and next to a park, going for a walk is as easy as stepping out your door. The Firs is pet-friendly, too.

Residents at The Firs are free from the responsibilities of homeownership. The Executive Chef oversees your meals that are prepared when you order. Dining is open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. The flavors and flexible schedule are much enjoyed! Find new friendships and meaning in this next stage of your amazing life.

You are invited to their open house celebration on May 2nd from 4-6 pm at The Firs. Jamison encourages people to visit on-site at all the places you may be considering. Tours can be arranged any day of the week.
